So many lives lost, so many underhanded tactics and use of weapons of mass destruction (incl. That little idiot thought he is so great that the entire periphery has to bow to his highness. My last pick would probably be Ian Cameron (26th c.). There is no way that a clan society build around the single focus of capturing Terra would just. He condemned the IS to the Ilclan era, which - without any doubt - will cause another billions of lives lost. I'm not sure if he really thought that his swords to plowshares project would ever work, but it made the IS weak and he is nowhere close to the be messiah he thought he is. Or the Fall of the Republic.ĭevlin Stone is also a great fit for a top 5 list. At least compared to the Amaris Civil war. But on the whole, that was a very "quick" 14 years of fighting on relatively few battlefields. Bad, but is he really the worst? Yes they used nukes, yes they brought a lot of chaos and millions died. Fuck himīesides that, we also have "The Master", which i think is on the same level as Amaris. Warriors, civilians, clanners and inner sphere citizens alike. Kerenskys decision echos through history more than 370 years after he made it. He knew exactly that the IS will delve headfirst into a war when he doesnt take up the mantle. Amaris is kinda evil, but in my books, Kerensky is probably just as worse. In fact, they gave the Inner Sphere the very thing that his father dreaded: the advanced weaponry of the SLDF (and then some) to wage their wars with, and now with new rivals to test them against. And unlike Amaris, whose following mostly died with him, Nicholass's deeds have rippled through the ages as a wildfire. I genuinely don't think he actually cared about returning to the IS, he was just on a power trip and that idea of heading home gave his followers a direction to work towards. This jackwagon saw the problems of human society and decided the best solution was to become a eugenics-happy slave-driving bronze-age caste system of megalomaniacal warlords. Now, if you want someone I'd pick over Erebus in Battletech, that's gotta be Nicholas Kerensky. Between the two I'm going with Erebus, especially since nobody really followed Amaris's doctrine or beliefs after the fact whereas Erebus had more than a few followers. Erebus just wanted the Chaos Daddies to notice him. please the Chaos Gods I guess? Amaris at least had a goal, even if he did lose his maracas by the end of things. Erebus's was kill the Emperor in order to. Amaris's goal was ostensibly to get revenge on the Star League and rule the IS in their place. Erebus by literal sorts, Stefan basically being given the Hannibal Barca treatment of "Never be a friend to the Star League" and being handed a generations-long crusade by his ancestors. Both of these men were corrupted by "demons" of some description. Y'know, there's an interesting point to be made here. Without continual expansion of new bloodnames, new lineages would eventually be prone to the same circumstances. But every one of the sibkos decanted from the original lineages would be some degree of inbred within a few generations of the founding, though filtered for genetic disorders by the scientist caste. Post Invasion era, those Clans that left the homeworlds started drifting away from those restrictions and the Scorpions are one known case of establishing new bloodnames. Each clan could only use those genetic legacies they possessed rights to. Sure, they iterate the specific genetic material of successful warriors from each blood house, but there is a core pool of unique lineages they combine from. Plus or minus a few legacies due to trialing for possession. 800 blood legacies ÷ 20 Clans = 40 blood legacies per Clan at the start. I'll gladly take correction if I'm wrong, but at least up through the Clan Invasion era it's my understanding that the Clans iterated only the bloodnames established at the founding.
